License Information
Per Wis. Admin. Code § SPS 305.31, no person may obtain a building permit for a one- and two-family dwelling unless the person complies with all of the following, except as provided under Wis. Stat. §§â€‹ 101.654(1)(b) and (1)(c)(2):

Holds a Dwelling Contractor certification or a Dwelling Contractor Restricte​d certification issued by the Department;

Holds or engages, as an employee, a person who holds a certification issued by the Department as a Dwelling Contractor Qualifier.
Pre-Credential Education
A person applying for a Dwelling Contractor Qualifier certification shall have completed at least 12 hours in an approved initial qualifier course in dwelling construction within one year prior to the date of application.
Dwelling Contractor Qualifier Information
DWELLING CONTRACTOR QUALIFIER -
This license is for the individual who is an owner of the company, or an employee of the company. In order to obtain this license, you must first complete an initial qualifier course and pass with a score of 70%. Once you complete this course, We will send you a certificate that you attach to the Credential application. This license has a continuing education requirement to renew the license. You must obtain at least 12 hours of continuing education every 2 years to renew this license.

DWELLING CONTRACTOR -
This certification is for the business. You need to submit a form to the State of Wisconsin along with a certificate of insurance. (Obtained from your insurance company). Note this license needs to be renewed every year. NO continuing education is required.

We also offer a variety of continuing education classes for UDC Inspectors, most Plumber Licenses, most Electricians Licenses and UDC Commercial Licenses.

Some of our courses are dual purpose courses, so they will count toward a variety of different licenses. If you hold one than one type of license, please check the State Approval list for that course to see which licenses it is good for.
