Dwelling Contractor: This license is for the business. You need to submit a form to the State of Wisconsin along with a certificate of insurance. (obtained from your insurance company). Note this license needs to be renewed every year. Dwelling Contractor Qualifier: This license is for the individual who is an owner of the company, or an employee of the company. In order to obtain this license, you must first complete an initial qualifier course and pass with a score of 70%. Once you complete this course, the course provider will send you a certificate that you attach to the Credential application. This license has a continuing education requirement to renew the license. You must obtain at least 12 hours of continuing education every 2 years to renew this license. We offer the courses for the Initial Qualifier and the Continuing Education Courses. Our courses are approved by the Department of Commerce for distance learning. We will send you the reference materials and the exam. You can study when you want, then take the exam. Once you pass the exam we will send you a Certificate of Completion which you attach to the Credential Application and send to the State. For the continuing education courses, we notify the State of your passing the course; they send us an acknowledgment of the crediting to your education account. We then send the State Acknowledgment and a letter stating you passed. You will then receive a notice from the State to send in their fee to renew this license for 2 years. The renewal fee this year was $30.00 for the 2 year license. |
